Why Social Status And Money Matter More Than You Think

I want to talk about something that a lot of people often think about, but don't really think about it in terms of improving business. Well yes you are in business to make money, however there is a false belief about money and status that you might believe to be true.

The Misconception

The false narrative is that people believe, and I'm sure you have heard people say, and that is “Money isn't everything”, or “Who cares what people think?” While yes it does sound good on paper, it is just not practical for business or even life for that matter.

I'm not really sure where this misconception came from, but let's be real here, if you really wanted to you could boil it all down to money, or social status.

“Well family is more important.” And yes I agree, but think of how much more you could do for your family if you just had more money.

“Helping other people is more important.” I also agree, and again think of how many more lives you could change, how many hungry children you could feed, how much you could give to your church, if you go, if you just had more money.

That power to help others, earns you a lot of respect, and earns you a lot of love.

The Perfect Duo

These two things compliment each other perfectly. It's like that perfect couple who are just meant to be with each other.

Money buys you more status.

If you were a waiter and you see hundreds if not thousands of people a day. The guy who gave you a $1000 tip. No doubt you will remember that guy.

Now that is just an example, but think about how something like that can get you a good reputation and a lot of respect within a town, city or even state.

Now having a good reputation and the ability to get attention, will give you endless opportunities to make money.

How Does This Help My Business

Like I said, having a good reputation and the ability to get attention is important. You need to be able to grab people's interest. With enough attention, you can easily turn this into profit.

“There is no such thing as bad publicity” which is true, but that doesn't mean be stupid. Come up with creative ways that put people's eyes on you.

I know a guy who owns a plumbing company, and his work truck has a HUGE plunger on top of it. Everyone in that town recognizes his business because of that plunger. I can only imagine how much money he has made just from that. It's a huge attention grabber

Once you have their attention don't be afraid to shamelessly sell. You have the eyes on you, now you can guide the eyes into any direction you want. Sort of like a cat, when you shine a laser pointer on the floor, and the cat is gonna go crazy just trying to catch it. That is how you want it to be

Attention is going to increase the number of sales coming in Attention=Money

Now that you got money coming in, you can now reinvest that money back into your business.

Attention is free advertising, but now since you have a bit of money you can do paid advertising which is only going to increase more sales. Now you can start paying your employees more, and giving them bigger bonuses, which by extension helps their families. So now you're helping more people. You can use it to hire more employees so now more work is getting done. See how this works?

The Truth

The truth is that no matter what people say, money and social status are much more important in business and even in life, than what we would like to admit.

Everyone wants to be somebody, everyone wants to be known. Money and social status is a great way to get there.

So next time you hear someone say this, you should hit them like Ivan Drago hit Apollo Creed in Rocky 4. Just kidding, don't do that. Just smile, nod and go about your day and keep making that money.
